Abstract: The last Romanian romantic poet, irremediably in love with nature, was, at the same time, a strong voice and a righteous spirit. Although he did not study law, he was an auditor at courses during his stay in Berlin, so that in many of his poems he addresses social themes. At the same time, in one of the short stories we find, in a nutshell, references to one of the most controversial issues of our days: euthanasia. Was Eminescu preoccupied, avant la lettre, with the “good death”? This is the question we try to answer in this paper.

Keywords: law, euthanasia, poetry, Eminescu.
