Abstract: The paper presents the translation activity of The Romanian Language Department of the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) in the European Commission. After a short introduction in the institutional context of translation, the paper looks into the various types of documents translated in the Romanian Language Department, the tools translators use in their daily activity and the procedures that ensure fit-for-purpose translations. Finally, various possibilities of working with DGT are presented: internal translator, freelance translator and trainee.
