Abstract: In Romanian criminal law, the concept of public officer has a very broad meaning, including all categories of persons operating in public administration, both civil servants and ordinary employees. Public officers are obliged to perform their duties correctly and promptly in the interest of citizens. This is why the criminal law protects the civil servants prestige but sets severe measures if they breaks the law.
