Abstract: This paper proposes a vertical analysis of the evolution of the TPLF (third party litigation funding) procedure in continental law. The research begins by presenting brief considerations on the institution of TPLF, as well as its applicability in Europe. Subsequently, the soft law and hard law rules of de lege lata in the European Union are presented. It is also intended to outline a future "architecture" of the TPLF, from the perspective of a proposed European directive in this field. In this respect, the legal forms corresponding to the functions of a financing company are drawn up, as well as the expectations of the lawyers from the new regulation.
