DOI: http://doi.org/110.47743/jss-2021-67-3-9

Abstract: Based on the results obtained from the exploitation of parallel electronic corpora in the training of specialized translators at Master’s level, this article aims to highlight the use of corpus-based translation studies as an indispensable tool for the acquisition of know-how and learning skills and, above all, for the development of the students’ critical thinking through evaluation criteria with regard to documents accessible on the Web or any other medium, i.e. to know how to evaluate the reliability of documentary sources. In this regard, we will try to identify the characteristic features of the legal text, in an inductive approach, going from the analysis of the product to the understanding of the translation process.

Keywords: parallel electronic corpora, corpus-based translation studies, legal text, specialized translators
