Abstract: Our new way of living, online rather than offline, is exposing minors, even more than ever, to online interactions and transactions. We can Identify minors by their different roles as online legal actors: Firstly, any minor is a consumer: of services, of subscriptions, of goods. In this role, are the Romanian civil law protection mechanisms still relevant in electronic contracts? Does the national, or European consumer protection legislation take into account additional safeguards towards the protection of minors? Second, minors could manifest an entrepreneurial vocation from a young age, thus wanting to do business and commerce. In this role as an online merchant, the minor needs a bank account and official recognition. Can a minor become a „professional” in the eyes of the Romanian legislation?
Keywords: minors; electronic contracts; liability for defective products.
