Abstract: The legal responsibility of local elected representatives is an important institution of Romanian administrative law. This is regulated in Romania by the provisions of the Law no.393 of 2004 on the Status of local elected representatives. However, a number of issues are identified that affect the regulation of the disciplinary responsability of local elected representatives, issues that relate to disciplinary misconduct, the indictment procedure and disciplinary sanctions. As a result, it is necessary to rethink the institution of disciplinary responsibility in order to adapt it to the specific of the local elected office.
